These are my choices for my front cover photo. Both are of my model, Matt, and both have almost identical mis-en-scen. However I feel that the the left photo (choice 1) is more suitable for my front cover than the right photo (choice 2)  as his body language is more distant which will link with my cover line more and I feel that the shadow in choice 1 creates an ominous feel that the shadow is overbearing my model and makes him vulnerable. This is not apparent in choice 2. Furthermore the light concentration is more specific on choice 1 simply on his face rather than across the photo in choice 2. This again links with the word "lighter" in my coverline as it singles him out as the 'light' that is surrounded by darkness emphasizing him in the photo and making the target audience question the story linking to this coverline. In addition, although both the pictures have no direct address from the model, I feel that the slightly off centre gaze of my model in choice one is more effective in enticing the audience as they are almost directly addressed but at the same time ignored; suggesting that my model is mysterious and that the story relating to this within my magazine will open up his story to the audience that is, at present, unknown to them. Because of this I have picked choice 1 as my front cover photo.

These are the choices for my contents page. Choice 1 (left photo) and choice 2 (right photo) are both of myself, looking away from the camera again. Although these are similar to my front cover photos I feel it creates some continuity to the magazine and also there is diversity between the two sets of photos. Choice 1 has a sepia effect upon it, to create continuity with the more colourless style of my magazine however I feel sepia is more aesthetically pleasing than black and white as it is more saturated and therefore more attractive to the audience. Also I feel choice 1's angle is better as again it is not totally dismissive of the audience but not quite direct address while choice 2 almost totally 'ignores' the audience. In addition the background looks totally clear rather than choice 2 which has some imperfections in the background. In choice one I am in the two right thirds of the photo which gives me space to write within my contents on the left third. Because of this I will be choosing choice 1 again.

These are my photos for my double page spread. Both choice 1 (top left) and choice 2 (bottom right) have some things which I would like to change. Because of this for both I would like to edit them and I may edit my model, Matt, out of the photo with one or two props. I have edited the photos to change his hair colour as this is what I will be doing with my front cover photo. I feel both photos portray my model as a person who is obviously interested in all stages of music production which is exactly what I want to portray within my double page spread as it will link to my article. Because of this I will use both of these photos but I will photoshop my model and some of the props out of the photo (the Mac and the Piano) and put them in the corners of my magazine surrounded by my article. I feel these will compliment my article as it shows his passion and diversity for and in music.
